At long last, it’s time to celebrate! Next Monday, we have our Gala event, a Suffragette style tea party catered by Room Forty.
All the team involved in the Women’s Words project are so excited. After over 2 years of planning we unveil our new style Suffragette magazine, which will be on sale on the night, and hear some of the entries celebrating the lives of women who have grown up, lived or worked in this great city of Manchester.
A new poem commissioned by the BBC about Manchester will be read out for the first time. Dr Helen Pankhurst, great grand-daughter of Emmeline Pankhurst, will be our guest speaker.

Kitty and Lillibet, Time Travelling Suffragettes
Rosie Garland and Eilish Mc Cracken will perform their Time Travelling Suffragette. It should be a great night!
Next Tuesday, it will be 100 years since the first women were given the right to vote. What a fitting time to celebrate Women’s Words!
Words by Rose Marginson, President of Soroptimist International Manchester.
