You may be wondering what Soroptimist International is and why we’re delighted to be involved with Women’s Words Manchester.
We’re a club that meets, once a month, at Withington Golf Club. We’re also part of a global network of over 75,000 members in 122 countries around the globe.
Our mission: to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.
So when we heard about Women’s Words, we didn’t hesitate to join in.
It’s been a hectic few months since the launch which have been enjoyable, but stressful at times. We can’t believe we’re at this stage already – all the workshops over and the entries are in. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading the entries and learning about the different experiences of living, working and growing up in Manchester.
Our Club President Rose attended one of Lucy’s wonderful workshops and found it to be thought provoking and, in a way, emotional.
We’re now planning the Gala event to be held on February the 5th, which is the final event in this first stage of Women’s Words. It will be lovely to see the end result of the project, the new style Suffragette Magazine and the other work produced at the workshops .
We’re nearly there, amazing!
