We have launched!

When Soroptimist International Manchester was asked to be involved I personally did not know how I could contribute. I have no arts background and at my first meeting felt overwhelmed by the knowledgeable people surrounding me.

Soon I was adding my bit and was listened to. I realised that different experiences bring more depth to the discussion. That’s the whole thing about Women’s Words – every woman’s story is important and will be read and kept as an archive for future people to read.

Since we first met it’s moved from a competition with a book as an end product, to different works being created including a re-imagination of the Suffragette Magazine which will be available to purchase.

Soroptimist International Manchester is part of a global volunteer movement working to transform the lives of women and girls. Some of the local projects we support include Women’s Aid, St Mary’s S.A.R.C, Emmeline’s Pantry.

As President of S.I. Manchester this year it has been my privilege to work with the women on this project who want to give women a voice to speak about their experiences.
Remember we are all important. Our stories count.

Little things count!
